This online course (via Zoom) is for new SENCOs who would like to build  their confidence and understanding. Topics include:

Induction - gathering useful information, how to ensure a successful first session for the child and family.

Initial concerns - the importance of knowledge regarding typical child development, general and specific observations and assessments, raising  concerns about a child's development with parents.

Meeting the child's needs - using the child's interests and strengths,  prioritising areas for development, reflecting on the environment, relevant and useful paperwork, referrals to other agencies.

Equality of opportunity - taking initial enquiries from parents, including those who may have a child with a Special Educational Need/Disability, making reasonable adjustments in line with the Equality Act.

A Zoom link and a free downloadable 19 page SENCO Toolkit (worth £5) will be emailed to you a few days before the course is due to start. During the course I'll be referring to English legislation, please contact me if you have any questions about the suitability of the course for you.
